Tuna Steak

Ingredients

  • 2  150g (approx.) Tuna Steaks
  • 3 Large Potatoes
  • 1 Large White Onion (sliced)
  • 1 Clove Garlic (finely diced)
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • Sweet Chilli Sauce
  • Ground Black Pepper

 

Method

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 200˚C, Gas Mark 6 or 400˚F
  2. Peel the potatoes and cut into small cubes roughly 2cm in size
  3. Place the cubes into a frying pan and gently sauté on a medium heat
  4. Once the potatoes start to colour add the onion and garlic and carry on cooking until the potatoes are golden brown in colour remembering to stir occasionally to prevent them from burning
  5. Whilst the potatoes are cooking remove the tuna steaks from the packaging and rinse under cold water
  6. Season the steaks with ground black pepper
  7. Place the tuna steaks into a frying pan and gently fry for 1 minute on each side
  8. Place the tuna steaks onto a greaseproof oven tray and pace into the oven for 5 minutes (this will cook your steak to medium)
  9. Once the potatoes are cooked place them onto the centre of each plate
  10. Then take your tuna steaks and place those on top of the cubed potatoes
  11. Lightly drizzle with some lemon juice and sweet chilli sauce and serve

Tuna Steaks can be cooked just like meat steaks: rare, medium rare, medium, medium to well done and well done. Remember tuna can be eaten raw so it won’t give you poisoning if you choose to have it rare. Also if you want a healthy option you can oven bake your potatoes instead of frying them and place the tuna steaks straight into the oven without frying them.
