Poached Egg

Serves: 2

Time:10 mins

  • 2 medium sized eggs
  • 1tbsp malt vinegar

  1. Put a pan of water on to the boil
  2. Add the vinegar to the pan
  3. Once the water has come to the boil turn down to simmer (this is where the bubbles in the hot water are calmer and just “ticking” over)
  4. Using a spoon stir the water a couple of times, one way (this helps prevent the egg white from spreading in the water)
  5. Crack open the egg and add to the simmering water and repeat with the second egg
  6. Cook for 3-4 minutes or 4-6 minutes if you like your yolk hard.
  7. Using a slotted spoon remove the eggs from the pan
  8. Enjoy!

Poached eggs go really well on toast or you can use this recipe to make Black Pudding and a poached egg on a bed of salad leaves
